Train travellers killed in South Thailand.South Thailand has again suffered fatalities in its war between religions. It has to be a religious war; Islam versus Buddhism. When Islamic or insurgents are murdered they retaliate and murder Buddhists, and Buddhists do likewise. This is a continuing saga everyday.

After they murdered a father and his 3 year old boy on Friday, on Saturday 6 men have sat cowardly on a train, stood up and opened fire with AK47 assault rifles killing four people. They shot rail crew, a railway police officer and a cleaner. Another rail officer was seriously injured. The insurgents then fled the train and more gutless insurgents then fired on the train, from bush next to the rail line.

The State Railway of Thailand has now suspended serviced lines in the Deep South indefinitely, after rebels attacked the train on Saturday. There were 100 people on the train and thankfully no one else was murdered.

We are looking at 2,700 lives lost since 2004 in this insane war. When is there going to be something done about this? The bombings and shootings continue day in and out. The government needs to be merciless; it needs to have a zero tolerance policy on all people in these provinces. Enforce curfews, set up road blocks, everywhere throughout the regions, have a shoot then ask questions policy, if someone doesn’t obey an order, shoot first and then question.

The military presence needs to be in the face of all people in the deep south of Thailand. People will not like it but it needs to be done. Maybe the UN could become involved but I am sure the Thai government thinks that they are doing a great job in managing this problem.

I know with the border of Malaysia so close and thick bush and scrubland makes patrolling areas incredibly hard, but they must be able to do better than what currently is being achieved.

I feel sorry for the fallen police, soldiers and innocent civilians and especially their families in this fight. I don’t have one ounce of pity for one lost life of an insurgent or rebel who has died fighting their foolish cause. If they killed each other and not people who didn’t want to be involved in their battle. I say let them bomb, shoot, behead and do whatever else they want to do to each other.

Maybe the government could consult outside interests in the matter and brainstorm ideas, as everything that has been tried in the past has failed to work. Just sitting back and watching people being murdered is a crime in itself. Innocent people dying is despicable, fools dying for a symbolic cause is insanity.

2700 lives ! My god. Are they having a civil war there? I really find it hard to believe that so many people have died and government has not taken any concrete steps. Either government is also in congruence or they are really blind.

The goverment has made some attempts to stop the fighting but what they have tried has failed. Over the past year and a half the violence has really escalated.

This is a good link and an overview of what is sort of going on in the deep south.

I have read the entire article and it is a good read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Thailand_insurgency
